Meet Dr. Amanda Wallace
SLPD, CCC-SLP

A Decade of Dedicated Care

With over a decade of experience as an ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathologist, I am dedicated to bridging the gap between clinical expertise and real-world application. My professional journey is rooted in a deep curiosity about the human experience, beginning with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Michigan State University. I went on to earn a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from Northern Illinois University. I recently completed my Doctor of Speech-Language Pathology (SLPD) at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions.

Throughout my career, I have worked across K-12 schools and pediatric outpatient clinics in Illinois, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, and California. My clinical background is extensive, including significant work within alternative education programs and therapeutic day schools. In these settings, I specialized in supporting students with emotional impairments, focusing on how communication disorders intersect with social-emotional challenges. This experience ranged from supporting children who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to implementing Multitier Systems of Support (MTSS) designed to increase inclusion for students struggling with complex emotional and learning needs.

Specializing in Adolescents & Telepractice

My passion for working with adolescents and young adults grew directly from my time in alternative education, where I saw firsthand the profound connection between communication, mental health, and emotional intelligence. I became fascinated by how the ability to process and share personal event narratives serves as a vital tool for emotional regulation and self-advocacy. This interest led to my doctoral research, which specifically examined the impact of narrative intervention on the personal narratives of adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Today, I specialize in teletherapy, providing a modern, neurodiversity-affirming environment where "digital natives" feel most comfortable sharing their stories and navigating their social worlds with confidence.

Where Passion Meets Practice

The best therapy happens when it connects to a client’s genuine interests, and my own hobbies deeply inform my therapeutic approach. When I am not in a session, I am often found rock climbing or practicing aerial arts on the Lyra. These pursuits require immense grit and physical problem-solving, which allows me to help my clients understand resilience and motor planning in a very tangible way.

As an avid fan of board games and role-playing games (RPGs), I frequently incorporate game-based mechanics into my sessions to make social communication and narrative building both engaging and collaborative. My love for storytelling extends to reading sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and graphic novels. At the same time, my interest in “brain science” is fueled by non-fiction centered on neurology, psychology, and human history. These diverse interests, combined with my background in anthropology and a love for travel, allow me to approach every client with cultural humility and a global perspective. I don’t just assign “homework”—I consult with families and individuals to align therapy goals with their unique values, ensuring that communication support is authentically yours.
